Why Trump Keeps Talking About People’s Bodies, in His Own Words
“I examined his ass.” “He’s all man.” “He’s a fat guy, wow.” A month of the president’s own words about people’s bodies, quoted and dated, what experts say it is for, and what it has cost.

Transcript of the video edition
Sunday in Port Huron, Michigan, the president told a rally: “I looked at one hell of a beautiful ass before, Nicki Minaj. That’s hard to miss.” It was not a one-off. Here is a month of his own words about people’s bodies, and what they are for.
Senator Jon Husted of Ohio. Kentucky, October seventeenth: “I examined his ass, and then I looked at his shoulders. I looked at his feet. I looked at his hand. I looked at his jawline. Studied him.” And: “I never did that with a man before.”
Dalton, Georgia, on Senator Jon Ossoff: “I don’t think he’s a good-looking man.” On his challenger: “I actually think Mike Collins is a good-looking man, and he’s all man.” In Dallas, on Ken Paxton: “He may not be the best-looking guy I’ve ever seen. But you know what he is? He’s the greatest attorney general in America.” Every line here is quoted and sourced in the description, nothing added. Here is where it gets darker.
In Youngstown, as a woman in a “Release the Epstein Files” shirt was punched and put in a headlock in the stands, video shows, he said: “He’s a fat guy, wow,” and told her to go on a diet. No arrests. No charges. The mayor called it senseless political violence.
He has explained it himself. Coast Guard Academy, May: “I hate good-looking men.” Georgia: “There are some reasons to be president.” Political scientist Dan Cassino calls it a halo effect; Jennifer Lawless says it is about attention. Trump claims Husted gained ten points. Marist has Sherrod Brown up four, Cook up six.
It is not new. 2015: “Look at that face.” 2018: “Horseface.” What is new is the praise, aimed at his own candidates. Ohio votes in six days and will show whether any of it moves anyone.
