Musk Says SpaceX and Tesla Could Merge
Elon Musk says SpaceX and Tesla are considering a merger. Here’s what’s known, and what isn’t.
Transcript of the video edition
Elon Musk says SpaceX and Tesla might merge. That would be one of the biggest deals in years. Here’s what we know.
Both companies have set up special committees to study the idea. Musk isn’t on either one, because he is a conflicted party. He says a deal isn’t guaranteed.
Tesla shareholders would have to approve any deal. Musk called the fifty percent threshold quite a high hurdle. Analysts say the combined company could be worth roughly three and a half to three point seven trillion dollars, depending on the source.
Musk also named shared work on A I software, chips and robotics as reasons a deal might make sense. There are big hurdles, and the talks are early.
So what next? Watch the committees. Watch for an official filing. A merger isn’t certain, but the talk alone moved the stock. Thanks for watching.
