Transcript of the video edition

Israel votes on Tuesday, October twenty-seventh. The race is tight, and a big endorsement from President Trump hasn’t clearly helped.

The main challenger is former military chief Gadi Eisenkot. Recent polls show him leading Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on who voters prefer as prime minister, by about forty-five to thirty-three percent.

Neither side is sure to win the sixty-one seats needed for a majority in the hundred-twenty-seat Knesset. That could mean weeks of coalition talks.

Trump called Netanyahu strong and brave in a post. Polls taken since show no clear bump, and some analysts say it could even backfire. Watch Tuesday night’s results, and what comes after.
